Stones/Crystals/ Urinary (cat)

A cat diagnosed with crystals almost always has magnesium compounds precipitating as struvite crystals. This is so common that some people avoid owning male cats because they “are more prone” to this problem (they simply have a smaller urethra, making the condition more noticeable/urgent). Kibble foods lack moisture and alkalinize the cat’s urine. Raw food acidifies the urine which naturally dissolves struvite crystals. Other crystals/stones are possible, but uncommon, and from different causes (thus requiring slightly different treatments.) For any additional assistance click our consultation box.
